The writers sent Kidd off on a trip to set up Girls on Fire programs in other cities, but Brett’s absence is being explained by a more personal matter of the heart. She has taken time off to spend with Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) in Portland, where he’s raising two boys whose firefighter father was killed in the premiere episode of Chicago Fire. “She needed to recharge her batteries,” showrunner Derek Haas told Parade.com. Then he added, “I’ll just say that in any season, but especially this one, the 10th one, when actors sign up for the show it ends up being 22 episodes and it ends up being their lives. They go from July to May, and they have lives outside of these shows. And so, every now and then … real life comes in.” Then he joked, “I mean, who wouldn’t want to go see Casey for an extended time? So, she’s doing that.”
Is Sylvie Brett Returning to Chicago Fire?
But the more exciting news is that Brett is scheduled to return for the finale (May 25), and she’s bringing Casey (Jesse Spencer) back with her, because the finale will include the wedding of Kidd and Severide (Taylor Kinney), and Casey is supposed to be his best man.
Is Jesse Spencer Returning to Chicago Fire?
When Spencer exited the series earlier this season, he promised to return for the big day! “How could I not?” Spencer told Parade.com, so it could be something to look forward to. “I don’t want to write anything in ink but I’m pretty sure,” Haas said, deferring to his co-showrunner Andrea Newman, who said, “We’ll pencil it in.”
Will Chicago Fire season 10 end with a cliffhanger?
Several seasons of Chicago Fire have had cliffhanger episodes, especially last season which found Severide, Cruz (Joe Minoso), Capp (Randy Flagler) and Tony (Tony Ferraris) stuck in a capsized boat sinking to the bottom of Lake Michigan with their air tanks on empty. So, it might be nice to have a romantic ending to season 10. “When you do finales, you have to come with compelling reasons why the audience has to stay with us at the end of a long 22-episode season,” Haas said. “So when you think of those things you think of, ‘Oh, could we have a birth? Could we have a wedding? Could we have a death?’ And then you’re like, Andrea and Michael Gilvary should write that. So, they’re writing the finale, and yes, a Severide-Kidd wedding is penciled in.”
Do Kidd and Severide get married on Chicago Fire?
We have watched Severide and Kidd struggle through their previous relationships until they found each other, and then go through the ups and downs of this relationship as well, especially when Kidd disappeared on Severide earlier this season, so it will be a nice payoff for the audience to see its culmination. “The ‘Stellaride’ relationship for us has been a journey, an emotional rollercoaster for the writers writing it, and for the actors who have had so much chemistry from the moment Miranda set foot on stage and joined Firehouse 51,” Haas added. “It has been a five, six-year journey that we’ve gotten to chart and map and it’s going to come to a head in the finale. And, of course, there’s bumps along the way. Because we’re Chicago Fire, we never give you exactly what you want.” Chicago Fire airs Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
