In the TikTok, she uses the “Hal Walker Plays the Banakulas” audio that describes three different sounds, two pleasing, and one, not so pleasing. In the video, Trainor can be seen standing in a hallway and mouthing the words to the sound, happily dancing to the first two sounds while standing still for the last. In text placed over the video, Trainor lists three big moments in her career between 2014 and 2016. The first, “‘All About That Bass’ hitting #1 in 2014,” the second, “Winning a Grammy in 2016,” and the third, “Making the decision to kiss Charlie Puth on national television in 2015,” which elicited a cringe face. The third moment Trainor refers to is the two singers’ performance of their song “Marvin Gaye” at the American Music Awards. At the end of the song, the two had an intense kiss on stage. Looking back, Trainor seems unimpressed and disinterested, as if she wouldn’t make the same decision today. The TikTok got a lot of attention, with almost 1 million likes, as of writing. Many people also commented about their shock at both the original kiss along with Trainor’s new commentary. One person said, “it shook the nation and i’m still not over it,” while another said, “IMMEDIATELY YOUTUBED… hahahahah,” referencing how so many people rewatched the performance on YouTube after the AMAs because of the kiss, with one video currently amassing over 109 million views. Others noted their confusion after the kiss pertaining to Trainor and Puth’s relationship status. Someone said, “no bc i had a whole conspiracy theory on that kiss,” while another person admitted that they believed the two were destined to be together, writing, “I thought for sure y’all were gonna get married.” A lot of people in the comments shared their hope that Puth will make a TikTok of his own addressing the event, although as of right now, he has not done so.
