The new series is a prequel to Yellowstone, called Y:1883, which will stream on the rebranded Paramount+, which was previously known as CBS All Access. The series will follow the Dutton family as they flee poverty in search of a better life. We’ll see the Duttons as they embark on their journey west through the Great Plains as they head toward America’s promised land — Montana. Y:1883 is the first series created as part of an exclusive new deal between Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan ViacomCBS and MTV Entertainment Group. The deal includes the creation of multiple new series for the network. “I am excited to continue the story of Yellowstone and thank you to Chris, Keith and David for allowing me to keep on expanding the family for the fans,” Sheridan said in a release. The original series, Yellowstone, follows patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and the Dutton clan in current-day Montana as they fight the government, developers and nefarious businessmen to hold on to their land. The third season of Yellowstone was the most watched season premiere on cable in two years drawing record-breaking numbers. The new Paramount+ (rebranded as of March 4) also includes content from MTV, Comedy Central, BET, Smithsonian Channel and more.
