Who are The Christies, the new family joining Outlander Season 6?
Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones)
A loyal Scot, Tom Christie joined the Stuarts during the Jacobite Rising of 1745. He was eventually imprisoned at Ardsmuir, which is where he met Jamie Fraser. When Ardsmuir was shut down, Tom was sent to America as an indentured servant. Once he had served out his term of service, he organized a group of Protestant settlers who moved with him to Fraser’s Ridge, where he becomes the leader of the Protestant faction and serves as the school teacher.
Allan Christie (Alexander Vlahos)
Allan moved to America when the man who bought his father’s indenture papers sent for him and his half-sister Malva. He is highly protective of her and, as a result, will cause a great deal of trouble at Fraser’s Ridge, especially for Claire, in Season 6 (if the series follows the book).
Malva Christie (Jessica Reynolds)
Malva is actually Tom’s niece rather than daughter, but with the death of his wife, he raises her as his own. When Tom was sent to Ardsmuir, his wife Mona went to stay with Tom’s brother Edgar, who got her pregnant. Malva was the result. Malva is very much taken by Claire’s work as a physician and her unusual self-esteem for a woman of that era, which doesn’t sit well with her conservative father. As Malva struggles to toe the line between what she wants to do, what is expected of her and family loyalty, it leads to tragedy.
